2. What files can I send to you to print?

PDF, this is the best format to send files in for printing as it will print as it appears on your computer. For instructions on creating PDF files see our "Solutions Room."

ai, eps, indd, dwg, dwf, plt, doc, xls, ppt, cdr, psd, tif, tiff, jpg*, bmp**, gif**, png, ps, pub, qxd, qxp.

4. How much can I send through E-mail? FTP? CD? DVD? USB Drive?

We usually suggest sending no more than 5mb through email. This is also dependant on your Internet Service Provider (ISP) , we highly recommend you use our File upload for all files you would like to have printed with RILEYS.

FTP has no files size limit but if you take too long to send the file over FTP it can time out.

CD is 700mb max

DVD is 4.5 gb max

USB drives are only limited to the size of hard drives you can put in them (max 1.5tb).

5. How long do you keep files for if I send them to you?

We keep files active till we are done printing your job. If you would like to have us keep files for future printing, we can accommodate all of your file archiving and storage in our "Solutions Room."

6. How can I get digital files sent to me?

We do send digital files back to clients via E-mail if the files are 5mb and less.

We also host an ftp where you can pick up files. Our Preflight Department will contact you.

7. What is the difference between RGB & CMYK

RGB or Red, Green, and Blue, refer to Light like from your TV or computer monitor or on a scanner

CMYK or Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and blacK, refer to ink printed on any media like paper. "K" is used to indicate black instead of a "B" to avoid possible confusion over Blue ink.

8. What is Preflight and Why do you charge for it?

Preflight is a term used in the printing industry to describe the process of confirming that the digital files required for the printing process are all present, valid, correctly formatted, and of the desired type. The term originates from the pre-flight checklists used by pilots. The term was first used in a presentation at the Color Connections conference in 1990 by consultant Chuck Weger. Pay a little up front to avoid larger costs down the road. Some of the latest surveys done in the reprographics community in North America have shown that 90% of files coming into a shop, need some kind of special attention before they are print ready. This is partly due to the amount of different applications that are on the market and the fact that not all work coming in is being designed by a professional designer with a clear understanding of what is needed from a file. This pre-emptive strike involves qualified staff and a small cost. Rileys needs to open every file and put it through a quick checklist in order to avoid a problem in production. This helps a file from going sideways during production.

9. Do you deliver jobs if I place and order?

We also can use any major shipping company to ship outside of our local areas.
